“Embracing the world around us with the love of Jesus Christ.”
Five Year Plan Count-down
St. Peter’s Five Year Plan
2008 - 2013
Our Goal
Our goal as a congregation is to continue the process of discipleship for at least 130 disciples at St Peter’s by the year 2013.
- Intentional Ministry: Ministry inclusive to all peoples within our community; celebrate our diversity and oneness in Christ, with the intent of actively reaching at least two distinct cultural groups. (At least one of these cultural groups will be overseas).
- Worship Services: Expand to two or three worship services with a variety of styles.
- Intentional Connections: Involve our members in groups throughout the week. Three types of groups: Care groups that are focused on the Word (like Tapestry, Mom’s Group, Men’s Bibles and Bagels and Triads). Theme groups have a defined focus that do not necessarily involve study of the Word (like Athletics, Games, and Activities). Community Groups (like Boy Scouts, Weight Watchers, Music and Art Classes, Recovery groups). We will have 10 new leaders trained to lead small groups, and a majority participation in these small groups. We will strive for a healthy balance of Care, Theme and Community groups.
- Church Staff: Add new staff members to facilitate and accomplish our ministry goals.
- Community Service: A majority of our membership will participate in community service events.
- Youth Ministry: Make the Youth Ministry relevant to our young people by encouraging active participation in ministry, worship and outreach. Ministry will grow and develop youth at the pre-confirmation, confirmation, and post-confirmation years.
- Worship: Increase to 130 worshiping. (20% of the total increase in worship will be the formerly “Unchurched”).
- Spiritual Gifts: Discover, grow, and use individual spiritual gifts. Each new member and most of present membership will participate in a Christian Living Seminar (to assess spiritual gifts).
- Celebrate, Evaluate and Revise: In 2012, we will evaluate our 5 year plan, celebrate our new members and spiritual growth and we will refresh and renew for another five years. Each year we will evaluate our progress.
- 130 Disciples Gathered Together For Worship by 2013: We will follow Jesus commandment in Matthew 28:19-20 by growing disciples at St. Peter’s through three primary areas:
- Knowing Jesus through worship, prayer, & study on a weekly basis.
- Serving Jesus by using my spiritual gifts and being accountable to one another.
- Sharing Jesus by teaching, mentoring, proclaiming, and making disciples of all peoples.
