“Embracing the world around us with the love of Jesus Christ.”
Mission
Vision
We believe that God has brought us together by Grace through Faith, to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to a world lost in sin.
We believe we are called to “come in” and “reach out”. We “come in” to worship, study, and pray. We “reach out” to proclaim, teach and serve.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all peoples ....”(Matthew 28:19-20).
Our Goal
Our goal as a congregation is to continue the process of discipleship for at least 130 disciples at St Peter’s by the year 2013. Read more about our 5 year plan.
Our Strategy
In order to accomplish this goal of 130 disciples at St Peter’s by 2013 it will be necessary for us to:
“COME IN” through:
- Worship (Hebrews 10:24-25) We will carry out at least four specific initiatives aimed at encouraging greater participation in worship each year. We will continually seek to improve our current corporate worship.
- Study (Matthew 22:37) We will preach through at least one book of scripture once each year. We will improve our Sunday morning bible study and Sunday School with an emphasis on fostering discipleship. We will continue to expand our small group ministries. We will provide yearly retreats.
- Pray (Philippians 4:6-7) We will promote a more vibrant prayer life within the congregation. We will offer opportunities to come in and pray. We will begin regular daily or weekly prayers on our website. This will include calls to prayer, messages from pastor, and suggested scripture readings. Pastor will begin tweeting.
“REACH OUT” through:
- Proclaim (1 Peter 3:15) We will publicly communicate our commitment to true, biblical Christianity. We will identify and begin work among one new people-group.
- Teach (1 Timothy 4:11) We will begin new programs of mentoring disciples for adults and youth under the guidance of the Pastor and the Elders. We will begin topical studies related to interests of our communities. We will participate directly in a 12 step ministry. We will begin forming Triads (Bible studies with three individuals).
- Serve (Matthew 22:39) We will begin a summer children’s program. We will gather together for quarterly fellowship celebrations. We will begin a after-school tutoring program by 2011.
Values
In response to God's love and grace in His gift of Jesus Christ, we value:
- The Bible as the source of God's unchanging truth for a changing world.
- Jesus' commission of making disciples of all people, teaching them to obey all that He commanded.
- Prayer.
- Openness, compassion, and acceptance especially toward broken and hurting people.
- The joyful celebration of the Christian life through the expression of worship, fellowship, praise, music, sacraments, and service.
- The responsible use of God's gifts of time, talents, and material resources.
- Personal and family spiritual growth.
- The involvement of every member.
